RAMSEY, N.J. - March 31, 2004-To meet departmental
print/copy/scan needs, as well as the needs of corporate reprographic
departments and print for pay operations, Konica Minolta Business
Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (KMBS), announces that they have two new
multifunction print/copy/scan solutions, the Di7210 and Di5510,
that will help these customers get their documents printed, copied
and scanned quickly, efficiently and correctly - the first time
around.
"KMBS engineers started with the award-winning Di650/551
engine, increased the speed to minimize unproductive waiting time,
and added an array of flexible finishing options capable of producing
a wide variety of documents in-house and on demand," said
William H. Brewster, Jr., vice president, marketing, Konica Minolta
Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. "We're certain these products
will meet the needs of our target customers."
Speed, Flexibility and Quality The Di7210 and
Di5510 combine durability, high quality output, and flexible paper
handling and finishing options to allow customers to print, copy
and scan documents in-house and on-demand more quickly and efficiently
than ever before. At 72 and 55 pages per minute, they can efficiently
handle large jobs. In addition, both the Di7210 and Di5510 have
tandem capabilities for even faster output - 144 and110 pages
per minute, respectively.
The Di7210/5510 is designed to bring out the best in any document
with true 600 x 600 dpi print resolution - even up to 2,400 x
600 dpi with smoothing. In addition, the Di7510/5510 use SimitriR
Polymerized Toner. By using an emulsion polymerization process
rather than the traditional pulverizing process, SimitriR toner
particles are extremely small and uniform in diameter and shape.
As a result they produce a consistently high and remarkably stable
image quality for better fine line definition and smoother halftones.
Operating the Di7210/5510 is easy, with touch-screen graphics
and simplified text explaining each step. The Di7210/5510 is designed
to maximize uptime with features including Konica Minolta's Advanced
Continuous TonerT (ACT) system that lets users add toner on the
fly, a maximum paper supply of 7,600 sheets, a wide range of paper
stocks from 13 lb. bond to 110 lb. index, and a monthly duty cycle
of 300,000 pages.
Finishing Strong with a Choice of Professional Quality Finishers
The Di7210/5510 provide professional quality finishing capabilities
that users can control from the desktop with the optional Pi7200e
controller. Select from four finisher options with a range of
stapling and folding capabilities, including eight stapling positions
(up to 100 sheets), booklet, tri- and z-folding capabilities as
well as selectable two- and three-hole punching. There is also
an optional Post-Process Cover Inserter that supports the addition
of pre-printed covers as well as post-process stapling, folding
and/or 3-hole punching.
Powerful Print and Scanning Flexibility Plus Job Handling Advantages
with Optional Internal Fiery Pi7200e Controller With the optional
Pi7200e internal print controller, the Di7210/5510 gives users
the power to do more with point-and-click control of scanning
and printing right from the desktop at full-rated engine speeds.
Because it is internal, the Pi7200e saves space giving users an
all-in-one print solution with a smaller footprint.
In its standard configuration, the Pi7200e supports PCL printing
only. The Pi7200e also allows customers to create finished booklets
from the desktop, save and name job settings, hold the document
at the control panel for additional "walk-up" control,
select "proof" to print a single proof print before
releasing the entire job and add custom watermarks.
The Pi7200e's PS/Scan Option adds even more capabilities. With
this option, customers get AdobeR PostScript 3 printing capabilities,
a 10 GB hard disk drive and scanning capabilities. In addition
to the capabilities mentioned above, the PS/Scan option provides
two-way communications that displays the hardware configuration
including details about paper and toner levels. The PS/Scan option
also supports the three most popular scanning methods: Scan-to-E-mail,
FTP and HDD and the two most popular file formats: TIFF and PDF.
The PS/Scan Option also includes several free Fiery utilities
such as Command WorkStation 4 and Fiery WebTools. Fiery DocbuilderR
lets users preview, merge, edit and assemble finished documents
more quickly. Fiery Freeform creates form "masters"
to easily merge with database information for variable data printing.
Fiery WebTools makes job management simple from any platform via
a Java-enabled web browser - an ideal in-house printing solution
for corporate Intranets.
PageScope Suite Provides Document Processing and Network Management
Functions Di7210/5510 customers also have access to PageScope,
KMBS' powerful family of integrated software applications and
utilities that help customers manage their documents and devices.
Included in this suite of products is PageScope Net Care, which
provides network administrators with detailed information about
the operating conditions of all networked output devices containing
a Management Information Base (MIB) from any web browser. This
means that not only can administrators monitor their KMBS device,
they can see any network printers from Lexmark or HP for example.
Network administrators can also get total print and scan meter
reads all from one PC. Using the information available from Net
Care helps lower management costs and maintains optimum condition
of the devices.
Also included is PageScope Web Connection, which allows users
to instantly check device conditions on all network-connected
KMBS printer/copiers from their desktop; PageScope Address Book
Utility (ABU) which simplifies the administration and creation
of Scan-to-E-mail addresses; PageScope Network Setup, to set up
the controller from the desktop, and PageScope EMS Plug-Ins and
NDPS Gateway, for seamless connections to Enterprise or Novell
Distributed Print Services.
A single workstation license of PageScope Cabinet Pro is also
included. PageScope Cabinet Pro is a personal document management
application that enables users to display scanned documents in
thumbnail form, group related documents, even use the included
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature to perform full text
search for information. OCR also converts image files to editable
text or RTF files so information can be edited, annotated, updated
or even incorporated into new documents. Additional PageScope
Cabinet Pro licenses are available as an option. PageScope Router
is an optional software package that is available with the Di7210/5510.
PageScope Router moves information faster by allowing customers
to scan and distribute documents in a single step, sending documents
to virtually any destination.
